Thank you very much to Maggie from Diigo for giving me her invitation to the DEMO cocktail party. There was a huge turnout and I’m sure it wasn’t just because of the open bar, I didn’t even know there was going to be an open bar (honest!). I met many fantastic people there who are doing creative and innovative things and plan on writing about all of them.
For now I’m going to focus on John Erik Metcalf of Conjunctured, a coworking company. About a year ago I wrote about coworking and how important it is to keep your family life and your work life separate. So I was very happy to meet John and his friend Colin Anawaty who is also a Conjunctured proponent. Their vision goes beyond just a coworking space of professionals who would normally be working out of the home office or the coffee shop. These guys want to form Austin’s own Startup District: a place for entrepreneurs and early-stage companies who are looking for space and collaboration with like-minded people.
Conjunctured will provide office space at very reasonable prices (more details later). Currently they are looking at warehouse space on the East Side which makes this East Side Gringo very happy.
Stay tuned for an interview with Metcalf, he doesn’t know it yet but I will be interviewing him sometime this week.
If you have any questions about coworking or Austin’s Startup District that you would like me to ask him please send me an email or leave it in the comments.

yo man. this is awesome. thanks so much for writing about all this. you’ve outlined the plan well.
while our books will be open for anyone who asks, the coworking space is not officially a nonprofit. if you could make that edit, that would be killer.
kick ass that you are in austin, let’s get together again. i hit up most of the events on here: http://door64.com/event
